Again this year, the toll-free number + 39-800-562-110 will be active until September 15th. Managed by CUP 2000, through its usual eCare activity, the free service is made available to seniors and frail citizens in order to reduce to the minimum the damaging effects of heat on subjects especially at risks.
The service – active from Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 6pm, and on Saturdays from 8.30am to 1pm – is realized with the collaboration of the Territorial Social Services, the Districts and Cities under the administration of the Local Health Authority (LHA), the LHA of Bologna, the Regional Agency for Prevention and Environment of Emilia-Romagna (ARPA), the City Civil Defence, the Aldebaran Social Emergency Management Service (AGES) of the Center for Welfare Service Giovanni XXIII, the Provincial Committee of the Italian Red Cross in Bologna, the Volunteering Associations of AUSER (Association for the self-management of services and solidarity) and ANTEAS “G. Fanin” (Active Third Age National Association for Solidarity), Social Centers (ANCeSCAO – National Association of Social Centers and Gardening Areas) and Pharmacies (thanks to Federfarma Bologna and to AFM S.p.A.).
CUP 2000 provides several workstations within its own Call Center in order to call the frailest seniors, while the involved associations provide volunteers to perform the phone calls and the monitoring visits at home, in case they result appropriate given the outcome of the performed calls.
In case the Call Center operators identify the onset of problematic healthcare conditions, either connected to heat waves or not, a designated équipe of professional nurses, provided by the Local Health Authority of Bologna, will be activated. The nurses will contact the user, offer advices and recommendations, and evaluate the opportunity to consult the user’s general practitioner, or, directly the emergency services.
